Feed a family of four for $7 or less with these budget-friendly recipes, featuring Giant Brand ingredients, basic pantry items and sales from this week's circular.

Broiled Cod

makes 4 servings, 4 oz. each / prep time: 30 minutes / cook time: 12 minutes

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons vinegar

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/8 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 lb Alaskan cod fillets

4 teaspoons unsalted butter

Combine oil, vinegar, sugar and spices in a resealable plastic bag. Add the cod fillets, seal and turn over a few times until fillets are evenly coated. Allow fish to marinate in refrigerator for 20 minutes. While fish in marinating, preheat broiler and spray a broiler pan with cooking spray. Drain and discard marinade; place fillets on prepared broiler pan and cook 3-4 inches from heat for 10-12 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Place 1 teaspoon butter on each fillet; let stand until melted.

Kielbasa and Corn Chowder

makes 4 servings, 2 cups each / prep time: 10 minutes / cook time: 15 minutes

1/2 pkg (14 oz.) Hillshire Farms Kielbasa, cut lengthwise and thinly sliced

1 can (14.5 oz.) low-sodium chicken broth

1 can (15.2 oz.) no salt added whole kernel corn, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz.) no salt added whole white potatoes, drained and cut into chunks

1 cup half & half

1 bag (16 oz.) frozen broccoli florets, cut into smaller pieces

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

dried parsley, for garnish (optional)

In a large saucepan, cook kielbasa over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 6 minutes. Add broth and bring to boil. Meanwhile, in a blender, puree half of the corn and half of the potatoes until smooth. Once broth is boiling, add pureed mixture, half & half, broccoli cuts and remaining whole corn and cut potatoes. Season with onion and garlic powder, and simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with dried parsley if desired.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Tomatoes

makes 6 servings, 13 oz. each / prep time: 10 minutes / cook time: 6-8 hours

1¾ lb Nature's Promise Chicken Drumsticks

1/4 teaspoon salt

ground black pepper, to taste

3 Tablespoons olive oil

1 Tablespoon butter

1/4 cup water

3 cans (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes

2 Tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

16 oz. box Barilla Pasta

Season drumsticks with salt and pepper. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add drumsticks and brown on all sides, about 2 minutes. Transfer chicken from skillet to slow cooker. Slowly add water to the skillet, using a spatula to scrape up any chicken bits from pan. Add tomatoes (with juices), tomato paste and spices, stirring to combine. Pour sauce over chicken in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours. At end of cooking time, prepare pasta according to package directions. Once pasta has finished cooking, drain and distribute evenly on plates and top with sauce and chicken.

Turkey and Spinach Pasta

makes 6 servings, 10 oz. each / prep time: 15 minutes / cook time: 5 minutes

1 box (16 oz.) Barilla penne pasta

2 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided

1 pkg (20.3 oz.) Shady Farms 93% lean ground turkey

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 cups frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained

1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes

1 Tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Cook pasta according to package directions. Add 1/2 tablespoon of oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add turkey to skillet and cook until turkey is cooked through, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, spinach and tomatoes, stirring continuously until heated through, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and keep warm. Transfer pasta to a large bowl and toss with remaining oil, butter, pepper and oregano until well coated. Add turkey mixture to bowl and toss until well combined.

*Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if you have it in your refrigerator

Green Bean and Hot Dog Casserole

4 Oscar Mayer Hardwood Smoked Turkey Franks

1 can (14.5 oz.) green beans, drained

1 can (10.5 oz.) 98% fat free cream of chicken soup

1 teaspoon onion powder

2 slices bread, cubed

3/4 cup Sargento shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook hot dogs in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Once cool enough to handle, cut into small pieces. Combine cut hot dogs, green beans, cream of chicken soup and onion powder in a large bowl and transfer to an 8 x 8-inch casserole dish. Top mixture with bread cubes and cheese and bake for 30 minutes.

1 pkg (12 oz.) Perdue Chicken Cutlets or Nuggets

Ore Ida Fries or Tater Tots

1 can (14.5 oz) mixed vegetables, drained

1 can (14.5-15.25 oz.) canned fruit, drained

Prepare chicken and fries or tater tots according to package instructions. Heat mixed vegetables in a microwave safe dish for 2-3 minutes. Serve chicken and fries (or tater tots) with a side of mixed vegetables and canned fruit.
